Contract Decisions

You have a number of contract issues to handle over the course of the summer. Today is the deadline for three such tasks. You also have issues to deal with for rookie contracts. For any first round picks you just drafted they are automatically signed but second round picks are not so you will have until the end of free agency (Aug 4) to sign them. You also may have players eligible to have rookie options picked up. First round picks have a 3rd and 4th year team option that you must exercise by September 30th following their first and second years.

You are free to see what options are available to you on your contracts page but you must email all instructions for signing or renouncing players to your commissioner to be processed.

It's now time to handle all contract decisions. The following take place now.

- Renounce contracts (can still be done during free agency if you so wish but remember, MLE eligibility is based on team salaries when contract decisions end)
- Pick up/decline team options
- Submit qualifying offers to eligible restricted free agents (remember, qualifying offers are 135% of a players 4th year salary so make sure you can afford to offer it and don't exceed any caps)
- Any last minute rookie options

Check the league file if you are unaware. A (t) means that player has a team option available, an (r) means that player can be renounced with their salary coming off the books and a (q) means that player can be extended a qualifying offer. If you renounce a player, you lose bird rights on that player. If you do not respond, the following occur.

- Team options automatically declined
- Qualifying offers automatically declined

Contract decisions open for three days or if all teams post sooner, it will close. Renouncements can be done at any time now or during free agency but MLE calculations are based on this deadline though. Be aware of that.

Deadline is three days from now. As above, we could finish up earlier if all teams respond before the end.
