If one of your restricted free agents signs an offer sheet, you will have three days to match. I will post the results and if you see one of your restricted free agents on that list who signed an offer sheet with another team, make sure you act. No response equals no match and you will not be reminded. - Quote :
- A player becomes eligible to be a restricted free agent (RFA) if he was a first round pick and has completed all four seasons of his rookie contract or was a second round pick and has completed both seasons of his rookie contract. If a team does not exercise the option for the third or fourth season of a rookie contract of a first round pick the player becomes an unrestricted free agent (UFA). As a UFA the player has the ability to sign with any team in the league. Teams have until June 30th to submit a qualifying offer in order to make the player a RFA. The qualifying offer is based on the player’s original draft position for first round picks or 125% of their previous contracts for second round picks and is an offer for a one year contract only. After playing out that one season the player would then become an UFA the next season. If this offer is not tendered then the player becomes an UFA. If another team wishes to sign a RFA they submit an offer sheet – the offer must be at least for two seasons. If the player has more than two years of experience the offering team can make an offer with whatever cap room or exceptions they have. If the RFA has two years of experience or less teams can only offer up to the amount of the Mid‐Level Exception. The original team gets three game days to either match the offer and retain the player or allow the player to sign with the new team. The original team can also offer a contract of their own. If that contract is rejected the player can still accept the one year offer, play the season and become a UFA the following season. No compensation is given if your team loses a RFA.
I strongly recommend all GM's read the FA section of the help file in DDS2. Notes: Make sure you are very aware of the MLE/LLE eligibility area. DDS2 does not stop you from offering both. If you have cap space and spend it, DDS2 will then allow you to still use your MLE. Make sure you do not use it if you are not eligible to. If you have cap space and are bringing back an RFA, this is using your cap space and your MLE is then void. The order of signings matter. If you are under the cap by less than the MLE (6 million) and have a restricted free agent, you can use your MLE, put yourself over the cap and then sign your restricted free agent. If you signed your restricted free agent first, you chose to use your available cap instead and your MLE is now void. If you are unsure, PM me. Do not use it when you are not allowed to and do not use it if you have opted to use cap space. If you have made an MLE offer and also an offer to a restricted free agent, if you free agent signs first, make sure you remove that MLE offer or you will be penalized. Please take note also that players such as Mateja Murek, and Gong-Sun Gong to name a few are fake players and are ineligible to be bid on. | |
